Walid Amri is a Tunisian artist based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He belongs to a collection of artists  from the Middle East who have become buoyant especially after the Arab Spring's (initiated in 2010) and the wave that brought freedom of speech and the possibility for many Arab artists to express their complex identity, their doubts and their dreams. Walid uses various techniques with his artwork howeverma he mainly uses oil based paint on canvas. His portraits evolve around three themes: silex, burn and light. Silex refers to the birth of the body and the age of innocence (organic/ physic). Burn deals with passion and rationality (emotions and their chemistry) and finally light is an attempt to describe the age of faith and philosophy (poetic/ spiritual).
