eL Seed is Launching ‘Lost Walls’ at Art Dubai

The talented Tunisian calligraffiti artist eL Seed is currently everywhere at the moment, and his next next stop is the 2014 edition of Art Dubai, where he will give an exclusive worldwide preview of his first book Lost Walls, before the scheduled international release in April. Lost Walls documents eL Seed’s calligraffiti road trip from last summer, a month long personal journey across Tunisia, where the artist painted 24 walls in total.

“What I would like from Lost Walls is to give another image of Tunisia,” he explained in an official release. “After the revolution, people now only link the country to politics. There has been governmental change, of course, but the culture is still there, the history is still there, and the focus should be on all of this beauty instead. I want to bring people back to Tunisia to discover the heritage that is left and lost there.”

In order to celebrate the pre-launch of his first publication, eL Seed invited Jeffrey Deitch, a New York-based art collector and so-called “champion of the art of calligraffiti” to join him at Art Dubai for a panel discussion about the future of calligraffiti as an art form. The eighth edition of Art Dubai will be held at the Madinat Jumeirah from March 19-22 and will showcase select galleries and art projects for contemporary and modern art.
